"The Rapture and it's effect on the Economy, WOW!!! " The article title
Edited on Tue Dec-09-08 11:13 AM by Are_grits_groceries
I was thinking as I was reading through the internet about the economy and how long it could last. Then it got me to thinking about when the rapture happens how that will literally throw the economic world upside down almost immediatly. So I put some numbers together, most are estimates and probably low estimates at that, but I was trying to do a best case scenario for the world left behind.
<snip>
So the working adults raptured are in around 64 million people in the USA alone.

Now the US Economy will be brought to it's knees with the rapture and NO BAILOUT will help it. The numbers below are based on 1 month of the bills that will go unpaid after the rapture...multiply by 12 and we see the enormity of the loss for a year or even just a quarter.

Unpaid car payment - $400 average payment = $25.6 billion
(this number will obviously be higher because most families have more than one car payment)
Unpaid rent/mortgage - $850 average payment = $54.4 billion
Unpaid credit card payments - $200 average = $12.8 billion
Unpaid cellular payments - $100 average = $6.4 billion
Unpaid power bill - $125 average = $8 billion
Unpaid Insurance premiums - $400 (auto/healt/life) = $22.72 billion

Thats a total of $129.92 billion for one month of unpaid items. Not to mention the billions in fuel, food, taxes, other utilities, etc.
<snip>
I am also very hopeful that the total number in america that would be raptured would be 100 million or so but based on our world today I just don't see 1/3 of Americans as being Christians.

The world thinks the market is bad now just wait til the rapture.

These people are fools with too much time on their hands. Rapture already!!

I'll take my chances.

4. But think of all the free houses, cars, and things we'll get
School costs halved, if you think that children below some 'age of responsibility' all get raptured too; we'd only have to finance pensions and Medicare for another 7 years, before The Big One; and maybe we'll find something worthwhile to do with all the empty churches. It's party time! Oh, and repent thoroughly, at 6 years and 364 days.

Post Rapture diary...

PR+1: The first thing I noticed when I got up this morning was the quiet. I walked around my neighborhood and noticed all the empty cars that had been abandoned. But the down side is, many of these boobs that got sucked up, were driving at the time so there are many damaged light-poles, fences, front lawns, etc. What a pain, even when they leave, they still find a way to stick to us one last time.

PR+5: Well, now that most of the dead cars have been pulled off the road, traffic is none existent. Infact driving to work is a down right pleasure. And since most of those cars that were "abandoned" were SUV's the price of oil has dropped considerably, due to lack of demand! Who would have thunk it, 50 cents a gallon!

PR+7: funny thing happened today, I was at the supermarket checkout counter and noticed that usual take a penny put a penny thingy was filled to the brim.

PR+14:Quick update: when to a football game last night and guess what? All the sky boxes were open to the public!

PR+19: We were all just stunned and shocked, by the sudden acts of sanity exhibited by the congress, they actually passed the equal rights amendment, no shit!
They actually started doing their fucking jobs! They shored up social security, made medicare more affordable, we can now buy prescriptions from not just Canada, but from any nation, pot was legalized, hemp replaced cotton and patriot act was dismantled and no more fucking spying on us!! Sorry for the swearing but I'm a bit drunk. Everyone is just so happy and is celebrating! Oh, on another note, abortion is no longer an issue, it was included as a right as part of the equal rights amendment.

PR+22: It's like the party never stops! We were all going nuts today with joy and down right disbelief, the troops were finally pulled from Iraq!!!
There was a huge party on my block. the relief in the air was palpable
And, best of all, a real discussion and dialog has begun with the rebel factions over there. Also, multinational talks have begun with Iran and North Korea. I'm so happy I could cry.

PR+25: The now vacant churches in my neighborhood have been turned into shelters for the homeless. They were quickly growing over with weeds and we thought that would be the best use for them. You know the meek will inherit the earth and all that.

PR+27: In a brilliant display of leadership, President Gore, cut Defense spending in half. He quickly established the Denver Project for Energy, with the additional money. Basically, a nationwide effort to build wind and solar farms and make us energy independent. Thus saving the earth.
I'm so glad that the people of this great nation, rallied and made him president. Since bush* and all his goons got sucked up to god (I'm having my doubts about that), we needed a real leader.

PR+30: Dang, it's been a whole month now and so much has changed! I'm so incredibly happy. The most happy I have been in the last 6 years!! I still just can't get over the quiet. Pollution levels have actually dropped! Scientists are stating that the rapture may have been the best thing for the earth. Everyone is wondering if in fact those that were "saved" actually went to heaven? It's pretty nice down here right now.

"I've heard estimates as high as 2 billion people who will be raptured. I am thankful I won't be here to withstand the carnage that follows."

(heard from where? hearing voices again?)

"I doubt it's 70 to 80 % everyone says they are a Christian but I would not be surprised if it's less than 30 % and 50% is stretching it."

(don't crowd the bus, will ya!)

"One can imagine the impact to housing if suddenly hundreds of thousands of abandoned homes are dumped on the market."

(Nice of them to think of the rest of us, huh?)

"But one thing we need to remember . . . when the Restrainer is removed, God gives the world over to strong delusion. Those remaining will buy into the lie. This is my greatest fear with my wife (should she not be raptured -- she's Catholic and very uninformed and disinterested in the Truth)."

(that must make for some interesting pillow talk)

"Off subject a litte - Guess I'm a pessimist but I don't think there are even 5% of the American people who are born again Christians and then depending on the number of raptured children I believe the total number this country will be much smaller than the OP suggested."

(at least he's thinking of the children...I think)

26. Someone posted on an erlier rapture thread proposing a
post rapture pet-care service so thet the chosen ones have peace of mind about the welfare of fifi and fido while they are up in the
clouds romping with Jesus.
Of course, this service whould have to be prepaid, and a tad expensive - after all it is really perpetual care....

Seems to demonstrate a lack of um, what's the word? Oh, yeah, faith.

14. so, they're saying the people who hold all the debt (lenders), ergo, the "conservatives"
(the people who were able to lend money to the downtrodden lousy poor who can't pay their bills now) are going to be around and demanding that they get paid, and yet, the ones who disappear are the "conservatives"???

Yet again, their logic eludes me ...

17. How come I never up with cottage industries such as this?

http://www.youvebeenleftbehind.com/

Get people to pre-pay an auto-generated email to loved ones (since you'll be gone there's no way to contact family sinners) exhorting them to repent and thus be saved/raptured as well. It's brill!
