The story that took the rear seat behind this one was the power outage in the northeast.
They said shoe thrower lost family members in the war and he had been kidnapped previously.

a few clapped but a lot of them were upset that somebody would do this to the president of the united states. I would say that more than half were outraged by it. Probably what the country as a whole will feel. I was in the minority--as long as it wasn't a bomb or a gun I laughed and said "good for you" and so did my friends.
