Any New Year Resolution?
Well, I want to stop smoking. But here I am smoking like a chimney. Does anyone else has trouble with this?

1. I don't do resolutions because I feel so guilty when I break them.
Here I am having a hair of the dog.

2. It beats puke of the cat
First think I did in the New Year, at 2:20 a.m., was step barefoot into a puddle of cat vomit as I was letting the furry bitch out of the bedroom. I hope that's not an omen.

8. Normally I don't
but stepping in cat vomit at 2:30 a.m. made me a tad irritable

4. Quitting smoking was my resolution last new year's. This year it's don't start again.
I gradually cut down to about 5-8 smokes a day by March, then switched to the gum, and have been working on gradually weening myself off that since. I've had three relapses since, once buying and smoking a pack, once having a few smokes while out with some friends, and once buying a pack, smoking one cig, then throwing the rest out. I haven't had a cig in four months, but I'm still quitting. I still chew 2-5 pieces of nicotine gum (2mg) a day, but that sure beats smoking.

The "trick" for me, such as it is, is don't quit quitting.

It does get easier, but there are some days it's still not easy.
