1. Oh, great. They own the Canadian Radio Shack stores.
Well, they call it "The Source" now, but it's basically still Radio Shack.

I guess they'll be closing down.

Too bad.

2. Yep, they're gone, can't arrange financing to survive the (de/re)session. I'm so glad we fixed that
whole credit thingy with the bailout. 30,000 more unemployed starting tomorrow. Not that Circuit City was a good citizen or anything, but this bites.:grr:

All sheep share a common destiny.

3. My last two shopping experiences there
left a lot to be desired. More than a year ago I went in to look for a DVD player. I picked one out, but the procedure was to tell a staffer which one you wanted and then they'd bring it out to you. There were no staff to be found. Oh, wait, there they were, clustered halfway across the store, comparing ringtones. I left without purchasing.

I went again just a couple of months ago, ready to buy a digital converter box. After patrolling the store a couple of times and being unable to locate a display of the boxes, I finally found a staffer. I asked him about the converter boxes, and his response, punctuated by an exasperated sigh, was a gesture toward the center of the showroom. "They're over there." I walked over, found the signage, but the shelf was empty. I returned to him to ask him of there were more in back, and he just said "No. We're all out." Not "I apologize, but we're currently out" or "we should be getting another shipment on Friday" or anything.

I'm kind of sad to see them go, as I firmly believe that the more choices one has, the better it is for the consumer. But I also believe in at least bare minimums of customer service, and I think that they should have had the foresight to know that converter box coupons were starting to show up, and perhaps they should have ordered more.

Ah well, another one bites the dust.

4. that's what happens when they fire all the employees
then rehire at a lower rate. I put a curse on them last year when they did that.

That sounds like my Sears store, trying to find someone to take your money when you are ready to buy something.

5. Just the beginning .... just wait ....
We are on the precipice .... lots of other stores denied operating loans are quietly considering the bankruptcy option.

Rumors often fail to pan out ... but the reports on clothing retailers are atrocious. How can they stay in business now that the Holiday Shopping season has ended? I don't think they can ....

7. With the huge markup on clothing I wonder how all the many women's clothing stores
in the mall can all survive.
