At first I thought Roberts screwed up on purpose. But now I realize |
|
that it was simply the very final act of incompetence in an administration that had incompetence as its hallmark from nonn on Jan 20, 2001 right up until noon on Jan. 20, 2009.

2. That's the conclusion I've come to as well. |
|
We can't expect Bush appointees or nominees to function at a competent level. We know that being qualified for a job wasn't a consideration in the Bush Administration (see "Heck of a job Brownie" for verification).
Roberts is just inept, which is what we've come to expect from anyone associated with Bushco.
Pathetic that the American people can't have competent people in important positions. We deserve better. Thank goodness Barack Obama will raise the standards while in office, but he cannot undo 8 years of Bush abuse overnight, unfortunately. :(

have brought it off perfectly.

How could it have been made more perfect to have the oath screwed up?
Next time Obama takes the oath, I bet he reads it from a teleprompter. I would.

He knew it was a really big moment and he felt that reading it would take away from it. He was nervous and he made a mistake. I don't hold it against him. Imperfection makes memorable moments.

9. I think he just had a brain fart... |
|
He thought he did not need any notes. He had a good memory. Then he stands in front of 2 million people with a young, confident President and he simply forgot his lines. He was like a basketball player shooting a free throw to win the game and one second left on the clock. The pressure got to him.

11. The bottom line is that Roberts should have read the oath. |
|
He will be remembered for this flub for the rest of his life and I am betting that nobody more than he wishes it was done right. He is like the basketball player who, under pressure, missed a key free throw. The key here is that President Obama believes in redemption and had Roberts give him the oath of office again when he constitutionally was not required to have it done by the chief justice.

14. I say he did screw up on purpose |
|
So that Rushbo and Insanity and the other rug chewing right could claim that Obama wasn't really POTUS. Roberts was smirking the whole time. Similar to the "he wasn't really born in the US" meme - "so he's not really our president." Colbert says that Yo Yo Ma was actually declared President because he was the one on camera at noon on 1-20-09.
These Repuklicans are lower than whale shit. Roberts is purported to be a very smart guy. I think Cheneyco ordered him to screw it up. MIHOP.
If there were any justice, all Bush appointees would be thrown out of office, as ill gotten spoils of a criminal enterprise. Doesn't the RICO statute apply here?

17. Misfocus. Obama had Roberts Change the Constitutional Oath to include "so help you God" |
|
The born agains are secretly crowing over this-if Bush or Reagan had pulled this off, :liberals would be angry-but none have noticed Obama's dissing the Constitution, and un-separating church and state.
