"It's hard when it hits so close to home"
Edited on Thu Jan-29-09 01:03 AM by shadowknows69
I think maybe my mom finally got it about Iraq. Please don't judge her harshly on that statement but she just made it today when she called to tell me her neighbor from two doors down was one of the soldiers killed in the recent helicopter crash in Iraq. She didn't really know the family all that well as they were recent additions to the area (He just deployed in October, had been to Afghanistan before)but being the saintly woman she is. she went down and offered her respects and an offer of any aid she could provide.
Just wish she could have seen it around the year 2000 when she voted for the war criminal that caused all this misery. My mother is a Republican that really shouldn't be one. I've tried in vain to explain to her why.

It has been hitting close to home for a lot of people for a long time now mom. Love you, but please wake up.

1. The 11th Commandment is sacrosanct to them.
Although, she probably is an Eisenhower Republican whose voice has been marginalized by the growing hard-liner influence over the GOPs direction.

2. She is the complete polar opposite of the current Rethug party
Her best friend in the world is a gay man for Gods sakes, although come to think about it he does strike me as a member of the log cabin club, as you said, the 11th commandment. I thought for sure I had her turned this year but she admitted she voted for McCain.

3. I'm glad she's beginning to "get it", shadow.
Better late than never and hopefully, she is part of a growing movement.

Your Mom sounds like she has a good heart...hugs to her!

4. Your mom is a Republican and a good person.
That is not unusual. There are plenty of them out there. I cannot convice my mother's family either.
