Your inbox is probably as full as mine with political watchdog groups asking for funding to keep the heat on Congress. I do have some money to donate from time to time. Which group is the best mover and shaker in kicking DC political ass and holding the rethugs to accountability? I want my money to buy political muscle.

1. I've had one membership for almost 40 years
A month before I graduated from High School about 6 of us were threatened with expulsion because of a Student Body President race we were involved in. This would have meant the Army instead of college if we didn't graduate. We went to a local attorney who was on the state board of the ACLU, and she spent about an hour with us and then told us to ignore the principal and give her a call if he threw out any more threats. I've paid my dues since.

3. Democracy for America is a good organization too. It is run
by Howard Dean's brother, Jim Dean. Their work is fantastic and are always on the lookout for progressive candidates. I donated to DFA several times last year to help raise funds for one very progressive representative in my district. That rep did not win, however, she gave the rethug a very good fight. The votes came very close something unimaginable in a very republican district.

I will continue to support DFA. It was first Howard Dean's organization until Howard gave it to his brother.
