Poll question: Is Capitalism the great fertility killer? |
|
Capitalist societies have 1 thing in common- crashing fertility and birth rates.
Whether it's pollution created by corporations like Monsanto, or air pollution, or the fact that the working class is literally worked to death..
fertility and birth rates have suffered so bad that there may not be enough young workers to support aging populations. This isn't some lame attempt to take a stab at our elderly citizens. I support social safety net programs for our elderly perhaps more so than other demographic due to the vulnerability of seniors.
Many nations that operate under capitalism have been forced to open their borders to attract young workers.
I'm fully aware of our overpopultaion problem and I'm not asking people who read this to go breed. I'm just asking..
Has capitalism contributed to the crashing birth rate in capitalist nations? <<< POLL QUESTION

3. Childbearing decisions as a marginal cost analysis problem...? |
|
As I recall, that was one of the premises of the movie "Idiocracy". Somehow, the "epidemic" of teenage mothers isn't palliative enough for the statistics you found...
I'm not actually sure that capitalism is forcing an opening of borders to attract young workers though, so much as it is to attract workers willing to work at pre-developed-nation wage scales...
I voted yes anyway... because I blame the crashing birth rate on the ready availability of contraceptive options, combined with capitalism inspired efforts of the managerial classes to force the worker classes into worker more for less ("do more with less"... the modern mantra), leaving the workers who are capable of even the most basic life planning with incredible incentives to put off any intentionally 'birth rate increasing' pastimes.
