Notice how hack Gregory does not call |
|
the Roberts Alito wing activist judges for removing a century of law. Bush v Gore was the best illustration of activist judges in US history IMHO.

1. neither Roberts nor Alito was sitting on the bench for Bush vs. Gore, which is probably |
|
why you heard nothing about it.

The change in a century of law referred to the recent overruling of campaign reform laws; Alito and Roberts, together with the rest of the RW on the SC, held that campaign spending was an exercise of speech and that corporations are entitled to the same rights as individuals.
The second sentence referred to a separate act of judicial activism, again perpetrated by the RW of the SC, although the SC members of the RW had changed.

Alito and Roberts are activist judges - they over-turned a century of law and ruled that corporations can pump gazillions into elections. Additionally Bush v Gore is the benchmark of judicial activism.

I was going to watch -- I thought Hillary was on this morning. But if Gregory is back to his old poodle imitation, I'll pass. There were a couple of weeks where he did ask follow ups but I guess the role of journalist is too uncomfortable.

my head. Looked like something right out of a late night horror flick.

he illustrates when he brings up something a guest has said in the past and how their current position runs counter to past statements.
Problem is he seems better at finding the video of Democrats flip flopping then Republicans.
Sessions ALWAYS called for up or down vote on judges when Repugs nominated them. Now that Dems are doing the nominating, he wants reasoned research, possible filibusters to keep activists out of the court and thinks nominees should get 67 votes. Up or down votes are now suddenly unfair to the American people and the constitution.

U.S. presidential elections are symbolic of our democratic process and that SCOTUS Bush v Gore decision prevented the will of the people of Florida from being discerned.
What decision could be more activist - and against the very foundation of our democracy.

18. I watched Gregory for the last time last week |
|
He's dead to me. He might as well be on Faux 'news' for all I care - he's become extremely cynical, which biases his questions to the point of making him unwatchable. I'm done with him.
