8. Being contemporary Republicans... |
|
...the fact that he increased the budget is proof, to them, that he's cutting it.

And I'm not just saying that because I own a bunch of worthless shares in SpaceHab and SpaceDev.

5. Daily Kos had a poll: where should the budget get cut? |
|
They asked folks where government should cut spending. No area asked about (military, social services, etc.) got even a majority vote except one: foreign aid, which is about 1% of the federal budget. Republicans talk big about cutting spending, but they didn't cut it at all when they had total control of the budget, and when actual cuts or cuts in the rate of increase occur, they're the first ones to jump up and yowl about it.
You may say that they don't know what they're talking about when it comes to the budget. You may certainly say that. And you may be incredibly right.

7. He didn't cut the NASA budget. And the folks on our side cheering the end of manned spaceflight |

are going to be majorly disappointed.
I may not agree with everything he's done vis a vis NASA, I think it's a way forward, he has clearly reiterated his commitment to a vigorous MANNED as well as unmanned space program, and I'm especially glad we have a stated goal to develop a heavy lift launcher by 2015.
