Sorry If This Is A Dupe... Just Wanted To Find Out If ANYONE Has Seen
Sir! No! Sir yet. Tonight on Sundance Channel they are featuring War Resistance documentaries and I've only spent a small amount of time here at DU for the past couple of days.

I used to check in a lot more often, and I still do and post from time to time... but not like I used to. I was at Ft. Hood, TX when they had the Anti-War demonstration in '68 and my heart actually started beating faster than usual. So many of us have very vivid memories of the "time" back then, but I wasn't aware of this DVD.

I just ordered a copy of it so I can show it to as many people as possible and made a donation too! I may be behind the times here, but JUST IN CASE there are others out there like me who weren't aware, you might find it VERY INTERESTING to visit the web site. http://www.sirnosir.com and perhaps buy the DVD or make a contribution.

They are trying to get donations to send copies of the DVD to current soldiers. I can't wait to receive mine.

Again, sorry if this is a dupe but I just feel the need to spread the word. Going back to watch another documentary being shown right now about Iraq! And I will probably buy it if it's for sale too! Blowing my wad here, but so very important!

Posted at Politics too.

1. I've never heard of it, but I want it. I was stationed at Ft. Meade, MD, in 1968

after a year in Vietnam, and actually attended a couple of SDS rallies. Then Dr. King was assassinated and we got confined to base, and I was release from the Army in May 68. Thanks for letting us know about this, and keep the faith, baby!:patriot:

edited for typo.

2. Keep The Ball Rolling... It Was Extremely Moving To Me!
And to think that what is going on in Iraq with the updated bombs etc. is almost hard to fathom!

Took me right back. I'm definitely ordering the DVD, and recommending it to my family & friends.

8. Iraq Vets Against The War & Other Groups Have Stuff Out Too
Just watched the other documentary too... need to check that one out too. My kids and their kids NEED to see this stuff!

Not that they don't feel the same as I do, it's just easier when you SEE it first hand than when you try to explain how it was back then. Fortunately they all live within 5 miles of our home and we can "share" but I may just buy another one to help out.

The I.R.S. made a mistake on my taxes and I just got a pretty big refund which blew me away! So, why not use some of it to stick it to The Idiot and all the rest too!!

7. Have To Make A Correction Here... My Father Was A "Lifer" & I Went
to school in Killeen and graduated from High School there. Killeen was NEVER NEVER a "nice" place for the people in the military. Some of the civilian kids I went to school with back then were absolutely horrible to the G.I.'s. The locals never gave them the respect they were due and I can recall many many times when "kids" I went to school with would actually "bark" at the G.I.'s and call them "doggies!" Had it not been for the 1st & 2nd A.D. at Ft. Hood... Killeen would have faded into the wilderness, it was a real dump! The attitude had changed now because so many "army brats" stayed and raised families there. It's grown quite large now!

I got to see Mollie Ivins in person back before the 2004 election at a book signing here in Florida and since she was basically from Austin I asked her about Killeen. She said it was the "same old shit-hole it always was!" Her words exactly. We laughed and she asked me how I survived!!! I do enjoy the reunions, but don't like going back to Killeen. We usually stay with my sister outside of Austin when we go back.

I actually married my husband to keep him from getting drafted and I know people now who are Bushbots who did any and everything they could to keep from going to Nam! It takes a lot to hold my tongue when these same people are so "gung-ho" on The Idiot and seem to have forgotten what THEY did back then!

But there are some who feel like I do and I know it's harder for them because THEY still live there!

Got a big kick out of seeing the Oleo Strut!!

10. Just Checking Back In Here... I REPLIED To Your Post About
The Oleo Strut! Got an error but thought it got posted anyway!

What I said in the post was that "We" probably saw each other at some time and NEVER knew it. I also wrote some stuff about my father and how he introduced me to politics as a Liberal Democrat. Won't go into all of it now, but also mused about what a S--t-Hole Killeen was. I remember that Jewelry Store too! I actually worked for a "loan" company after I got married that was across the street from the store!

I really "needed" my job back then and those "loan" companies were a piece of work too! E-1's & E-2's would come in a borrow $20.00 to make it through the month and then they pushed us to re-write when they couldn't make the minimum payment! A 2 month loan of $20.00 cost $8.00 in interest!

But then they would give the "Rot-Cees's" great rates and extensions too! I really learned so much about "life" and just how people used others for their own benefit.

I was raised a "good" Catholic girl and an Army brat too and to say I was naive is an UNDERSTATEMENT! After getting married and finding out about how AMERICA lies to it's people took some time for me to digest!

However, I haven't looked back and after my "transformation" have remained an "activist liberal" who keeps trying to "play the game" and come out on top! These days I call America The U.S. of ASS!!

11. I also remember an underground paper published at Ft. Hood
called the Fatigue Press. It was illicitly mimeographed on Army equipment & paper. The Army knew who the editor/culprit was, but could never quite nail him. They finally busted him on a trumped-up marijuana charge (supposedly found a seed in his pocket, but the seed--the only evidence--was "destroyed in analysis," so they court-martialled him with only the report of the analysis for evidence) and put him in military prison for something like 5 years.

14. It Kind Of Hurts To Think About "The Way We Were!" To Coin
a phrase. And we thought it was "worser than worse" so look at us now!

Yeah, the documentary did conjure up many many years gone by! Thanks for chatting!
