4. Looks like RW doom and gloom. Here's one:
"The Dow Jones Industrial Average just experienced the worst May it has seen since 1940"

Maybe a sign that the market loves financial reform?

7. Think it is economic fundamentals
Don't know why some of the big players outside of finance would announce layoffs this past month if it was financial reform.

10. looked like a mix of RW talking points like tax raises
and health care reform and LW talking points to me. Either way it is an interesting look at the current bad economy.

Surely, even YOU realize at this point how silly you sound.

Bubbles Collapse, Bob.

Look into it.

6. Since when is the truth crazy.
If we had any type of honest media, this data would be front page news daily, along with being the lead story daily on the tube.

The problem is that they "pretend" all is well. Green shoots, recovery taking hold, slow steady recovery, it's all bullshit. In the real world, our economy is still shedding jobs. The birth/death bullshit model is contributing phantom jobs to make it "appear" jobs are being created, when in reality, they are not.

We are soooooooooooooooooo FUCKED.

11. A nice dose of reality for those who think that things are going just fine,
The nasty little secret is that this country, we the people are being driven into the ground by the few and the wealthy in this country and no government, no politician either Democratic or Republican is willing to put a stop to it. In fact they just keep enabling it to continue.

13. Some of these are pretty spurious....
..
According to the Tax Foundation’s Microsimulation Model, to erase the 2010 U.S. budget deficit, the U.S. Congress would have to multiply each tax rate by 2.4. Thus, the 10 percent rate would be 24 percent, the 15 percent rate would be 36 percent, and the 35 percent rate would have to be 85 percent

Oh yeah? Over what time period? A year? A century? Meaningless without that information.

Still, the bottom line is that the rich are getting richer and the poor - and middle class - are getting poorer.

26. It's a very interesting wrapper for some pernicious propaganda
Notice how they lump welfare, food stamps, and Social Security together. They're not even remotely related, but it's part of the effort to kill Social Security to "save" the economy.

Also, they pound pretty heavily on health-care reform, especially claiming that it will raise taxes stupendously. They fail to mention that true health care reform would reduce personal expenses tremendously too.

In a lot of these statistics, they only look at one data point and ignore the others that add some context and balance.

"Half of my high school class went to Harvard on scholarship." Interesting until you find out there were only two kids in my high school class.

28. Some are screaming right wing bias or left wing bias
My guess is there is some bias in data collection by the different groups they used. Overall, however it is an interesting exercise in information to go through.

And I've only reached #9 so far:

"In the area around Sacramento, California there is one closed business for every six that are still open"

HA! East Cleveland see's one OPEN business for every six that are CLOSED!

And being from Allentown, I think it's safe to assume that you see the same thing!

23. Ha! Got # 10 beat, too!
Recently, there was a janitorial position opening in one of the small, rural county buildings.
The job paid $9.50 per hour. According to my SO who works there, there were well over 200 applicants, some of them with MASTER'S DEGREE'S.....

Just sickening!
