Oil on the beach, versus oil in the marshes |
|
If we could direct the BP mess onto the beaches and keep it away from the marsh lands, we'd be in better shape. If only we could.
But we should try to keep it out of the marsh lands. That is where we should focus 100% of what measly protection efforts we can muster.
We can clean the beaches, but we darn sure can't clean the marshes.

1. What happens to all the conquinas, mole crabs, etc. when a |

beach gets oiled? The oil should be channeled onto supertankers and hauled away, if that leads to shortages, ration gas.

Being that the biodiversity in the marsh habitats is far greater than the beaches, the preservation of the marshes takes precedent. imo.
Channeling the oil onto the beaches to make it easier to pump into tankers is a good idea.
Of course, getting it at the source is even better. Why didn't BP think of that?

3. I meant out on the water, not on the beaches. I wouldn't trust BP |

to clean the ring out of the bathtub. They should have a shitload of big tankers siphoning off the surface mess and hauling it away to refineries-or England, I don't care which.

Sandy beaches are pretty, but they aren't as productive as the marsh.

With BP running the clean up and the White House allowing them to run the clean up
we can have oil on the beaches AND in the marshes.
