Why don't we have a government agency to deal with environmental crisis situations? |
|
After 911 Bush created an entirely new huge government agency called "Homeland Security" to protect us from the somewhat nebulous threat of terrorism.
I was kind of hoping that Obama might announce the creation of kind of an uber-EPA that would have virtually unlimited resources to respond quickly to the not-so-nebulous threat of our highly technological society occasionally going sideways on us.

What the fuck is the EPA doing right now, anyway?
Empty out the EPA offices and send them all to the beach with a bucket and shovel, I say.
Let them get their hands dirty. They're already getting paid - it won't cost a dime.
...and after them, every govt. agency full of "watchdogs" that were supposed to be protecting us from this ever happening.

However, we're also infected (in BOTH parties) by corporate minded tools.
