After it's approved it takes 30 days for flood policies to be in effect. We are in hurricane season, here, Congress, you idiots.

1. Interesting question & prompts another one. How much should taxpayers subsidize insurance policies
for high risk ventures such as building on property subject to frequent weather disasters that are predictable?

2. I think there should be limits to re-re-rebuilding...
btw, this program was one of the first big corp bailout bills, iirc in the 60's, to "help" property insurers.

3. Agree re-re-rebuilding, e.g. on river flood plains that overflow every year or two. n/t

4. When we were looking for a place to buy

Flood plain was one of a bunch of different things we were concerned about..I was in SoFla for H Andrew.

Andrew had changed directions, but was supposed to come ashore at Port Everglades, FtLaud, Fl and our place (rented) was in a flood plain so we had to leave. The roof leaked a tiny bit in 2 places before the storm and we were already fighting the landlord about it..idiot claimed it was my responsibility to put a new roof on it.
After the storm it leaked every where, including into the stove which knocked me across the room when I touched it. We had only been there a few months prior to the storm.

It does bug me that I cannot get a little help to make our home use less energy..I mean like low cost loans which we could pay for, but we cannot cough up 20 grand for PV, but rich f ers get handouts when there Palm Beach mansion gets ploughed.

I know a lot of business depend on being on the shore or near its their living that is one thing, a home the size of a resort is another.
