3. Not for me - not today. |

I keep coming back here throughout the day. I don't know why - habit, I guess.

I loved the way they described his handshake and hand on bicep/shoulder/elbow
I will forever remember both times he did that to me.
He absolutely, positively, makes you feel that for that moment you are the most important person in the world to him.
I loved watching Jim keep track of time with that sort of knowing grin, then amble up to gently drag him off stage... I am sure that the family called Jim in and said "Joe is running behind schedule because we can't tear him away from one crowd to get him to the next. Here's your assignment" and Jim said "Got it. I'm on it." Only his brother could fill that role. I said to Jim at Dubuque 'I'll hang around and be available if you need a flying wedge to get him out of here to the plane" and he smiled and nodded like it was an inside joke - I felt for that couple of seconds like I was a (temporary) part of that wonderful family team.
It is just wonderful that his mom joined the group after Christmas. She was there to see his biggest crowds, see him talk about his dad, tell the story about "Get Up" and others about his dad. What a great bunch of people.
Now I'm sniffling.

7. I finally got up the nerve to read this -- outstanding! One of the comments: |
|
Joe Biden didn't lose. America did.
Simple as that.

8. Will think of this often. |
|
'Right before the caucuses begin, Joe and Jill sit in their car and tell the story of how they got into this race, how Jill was so dejected after George W. Bush won reelection in 2004, how she met with their children and said, "We oughta ask dad to run," and how they held several meetings, and at last they brought Joe in -- a whole big family event -- and told him what they thought.'

11. hehe - this is my favorite part -- |

The pundits, "they think I'm not calculating," too blunt, Biden says.
"I would hope that Joe would never be a politician like Hillary Clinton," Jill interjects softly.
"Oh, c'mon now," Biden says. "Stop that."
Pure, honest, down to earth, family.

15. Unfortunately the really smart guys never make it |

It's the slicksters, and the phonies that garner the votes. America's system of electing leaders is ludicrous. The media chooses the candidates and pushes them on the public, we ALL saw that.
Dual citizenship, here I come. Germany is so much more civilized in their political process. People don't spend gazillions of dollars on advertising, they all get equal and FREE time on TV and radio no more than a couple months before the election. And then there is this thing called representational democracy, if a party cracks 5% they get at least one seat in the Bundestag. So, in a way everyone is represented, and then the parties broker deals with one another to form coalitions.
