Argentinean judge Marta Novatti served with a subpoena a former director of Venezuelan state-run oil giant Pdvsa in Argentina and his son, Daniel Uzcátegui Matheus and Diego Uzcátegui Specht, respectively, to testify as suspects in connection with the USD 800,000 confiscated from US-Venezuelan businessman Guido Antonini Wilson unsuccessfully tried to smuggle in Buenos Aires last August 4.

According to judiciary sources, quoted by Argentinean press reports, the two Venezuelan citizens were subpoenaed to appear in court in mid-February for their alleged involvement in aggravated smuggling and money laundering.

The sources suggested that judge Novatti would be replaced with judge Daniel Petrone next March, precisely when a trial against three Venezuelans and one Uruguayan connected to the case is scheduled to begin in Miami, daily newspaper Clarín reported.

In Miami, reports this week noticed that South Miami Federal Attorney General Thomas Mulvihill -who is conducting the case against Venezuelans Moisés Maiónica, Carlos Kauffmann, Franklin Durán and Uruguayan Rodolfo Wanseele Pacielo, who were accused of acting as "agents of a foreign government" when they tried to force Antonini to conceal the origin and destination of the USD 800,000 confiscated in Buenos Aires- is likely to produce evidence that may involve other government officials, said weekly publication Perfil in a special feature. "Attorney Mulvihill is managing with much strategy. This week he achieved a plea bargain with Moisés Maionica. But there is more. Mulvihill is in possession of more tape recordings and pieces of evidences likely to point to other people as involved in this case," said a source close to the case. Such evidence may involve an Argentinean diplomat.
