Okay, this one is going to make the debate over the RNC’s “census” fundraising mailer look like a polite discussion about knitting techniques.

The Republican National Committee is set to unveil a new fundraising Web site that seeks to raise cash by telling people that Obama’s judicial nominees could edit the U.S. Constitution to give rights to terrorists and sex offenders.

The new site — which is called Obamavconstitution.com and will be sent to the RNC’s list today — displays a copy of the Constitution with revisions scrawled on it in red handwriting, including parts where rights for terrorists and sex offenders are written in.

“President Obama’s Judicial nominees have made it clear: The Founding Fathers got it wrong,” the site says. “Unless you stop them, here are a few edits they may make to the Constitution.”

The new site is the latest sign that the RNC is willing to employ garish, misleading, over-the-top fundraising appeals, even though they attract massive amounts of criticism, because they accomplish their desired effect of bringing in the bucks.
