Poll question: Is Obama a caver or a fighter?
Edited on Fri Dec-03-10 07:02 PM by Cali_Democrat
What do you think?

Does Obama cave in too much to the Republicans that want to destroy him or does Obama really fight for what he believes in?

10. Where's Your Proof?

As I enter this, 80% of the responses to this poll---including mine---label Obama as a caver. Prove us wrong.......

12. I can characterize your position as I see fit
If your cohort above me can make ridiculous little statements about one class of voters, I'm happy to respond in kind. As for your 80%, I'll just heartily declare that I don't give a good goddamn about you or them, opinion-wise (I suspect you're all wonderful people otherwise).

Have a nice day.

Sorry...I saw an opening and used it. It's a movie line from one of the Naked Gun movies.

I voted other. Politics is much harder than single options such as fighter or caver. You could make a case for either, depending on your view.

4. Neither...he is a corporate puppet of the first degree. Need a third option - BOUGHT

Caving would imply that he stood for the people and policies of principle in the first place. Can't cave if you never were really vested in representing the people's interests...

This is such a simple point. Why are we still stuck on caving?

He is bought.

8. He is the President, not a boy in the schoolyard
This gets dumber and dumber. There is no game going on here. It's not an entertainment. Governing can be tedious or about figuring out how to get something done in a system set against it to a great degree.

...and a strong majority of Democrats in the House including
many who still believed in progressive and liberal (and Demo-
cratic!) ideal! For a Corporatist like Obama, that must have been
one hell of a tough challenge!

Getting nothing done** must have been really, really tough!

All his compromises move from his basic centrist (DLC) positions
towards Republican positions.

When he doesn't turn out to be the messiah they deluded themselves into believing he was, they turn on him.

28. The poll doesn't give good options IMO.
Each is an extreme position. He's either a fighter or a caver or someone bought and paid for by the corporations. My choice would be that he's a pragmatic realist who picks his battles and works to achieve the best he can and compromises when he has to. That's what I thought of him when I voted for him in 2008 and my opinion hasn't changed since.

35. I would have told you the same thing during the primaries!
In fact, I did, but when we were finally offered a "choice", it
was Corporate Tool #1 versus Corporate Tool #2. All the
non-tools had been eliminated, mostly by the efforts of
(one guess) the Corporate Media.

He is a seriously committed 'caver.' He, Reid, Pelosi, and Hoyer form a spineless quartet.
