Is it normal for a President to cut a deal with the opposition |
|
without involving the majority party that said president happens to be a member of?
Is there a precedent for this?
If I were Pelosi, I'd be pissed, too.

1. Pretty sure Bush Sr. cut a deal to raise taxes this way... |
|
Which made his "read my lips pledge" kind of laughable.
Republicans were in a minority in both Houses then, but I do believe the Republican congresscritters were furious.

2. No... but it also isn't normal for a party to fail to follow their President's lead. |
|
And here we thought it would be the republican party that splinters after the election.

5. No. Not at all. In fact, I'm really confused |
|
by this. If Obama is a such a constitutional scholar, then he should know that CONGRESS makes laws, his ADMINISTRATION carries out the laws. I mean that is basic stuff.
