Woman makes bomb threat to Democratic Party office, gets 18 months in jail

Here’s a little appetizer to enjoy before Trump’s next perp walk.

An Elberton woman was sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison this week in U.S. District Court in Macon in connection with a bomb threat made in 2022 to the Athens-Clarke County Democratic Committee headquarters.

Jessica Diane Higginbotham, who also uses the last names of Harriod and Jones, had entered a guilty plea on May 16 to communicating a bomb threat.

Higginbotham, 35, is a former security contractor, hired to provide security for the office in Athens.

The investigation began on Dec. 3, 2022, after federal prosecutors said an employee at the office received a disturbing text message.

“Hello, I am writing this message to you to let you know that I am coming by either tonight or in the morning to set a bomb up. So I can blow all the Democrats up,” the message read. "I have other people going to other offices also. If I can’t stop you by breaking in and destroying the property, then I will blow every one up. So be ready to be blown up. This is going to either happen tonight or in the morning. Hope you like being on the wrong team.”

The U.S. Attorney reported that on Dec. 4, FBI agents located Higginbotham at a coffee shop in Athens with the phone used in the crime in her hand. As agents approached her, the FBI reported she vomited.

While investigating the threat, the FBI also learned a burglary occurred at the campaign headquarters in Athens on Nov. 27 and a laptop was stolen.

The FBI noted that the crime appeared to be staged as tables were turned over, but no forced entry was found. The laptop was later recovered in Higginbotham’s possession.

Man Demands Refund After Seeing Buddha Imagery At Chinese Restaurant Because He's Christian

A man turned a lunch trip into a religious protest after he spotted imagery in the restaurant that did not align with his beliefs. He then demanded a refund on his food order for all of his troubles, but many people disagree with his proclamations.

A video posted to the subreddit, "r/PublicFreakouts" depicts a male customer in a Chinese restaurant picking up a food order. However, after he allegedly spotted a statue of Buddha, an Asian spiritual master associated with the Buddhism religion, he demanded a refund since Buddhist beliefs go against his beliefs as a Christian.

The incident took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Rose Garden Chinese restaurant.

In the video, the man and a little boy who is presumed to be his son stand off to the side of the counter and he can be heard arguing with other customers and restaurant staff after asking for a refund.

WAPO:House Republicans censuring Adam Schiff says more about them than him

Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) became on Wednesday just the third member of Congress to be censured in the past 40 years. The party-line vote reflected worse on the House Republicans who pushed it through than it did on Mr. Schiff.

The resolution accuses the former House Intelligence Committee chairman of falsely claiming that Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign colluded with the Russian government. Mr. Schiff responded that Paul Manafort, as chairman of Mr. Trump’s campaign, provided internal campaign polling data to a Russian intelligence operative amid widespread Kremlin efforts to assist Mr. Trump. Experts can debate whether that technically constitutes collusion. But this semantic question is hardly the basis for a censure motion.

Contrary to what many Trump supporters claim, the investigation by Robert S. Mueller III never exonerated Mr. Trump. Indeed, the special counsel’s report laid out significant evidence of obstruction of justice. It’s indisputable that Russia interfered in the 2016 election on Mr. Trump’s behalf.

Ellsberg and Trump both took classified documents. Their reasons couldn't be more different

On Friday, a man who leaked classified national security documents to the press died at the age of 92 at his home in the San Francisco Bay Area. On Tuesday, a man who took classified documents to his Miami home that was also a resort frequented by a wide array of characters, refused to surrender them, and unleashed a flock of lies about the whole business, was arraigned on 37 felony charges.

We know that Daniel Ellsberg leaked documents in the hopes of stopping a war, preventing deaths, and exposing a government that had through five presidencies lied about that war in Vietnam to justify and perpetuate it. We don’t know exactly why Donald J Trump absconded from the White House with top secret material. But there are no good explanations for those boxes stacked on the stage, in the bathroom and spilling on to the floor of a storeroom, and dragged back to another insecure location at Trump’s country club in New Jersey, or for his refusal to surrender the material when the government demanded it.
