Pope Francis drops F-bomb
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/the-pope/10673813/Pope-Francis-drops-F-bomb.htmlPope Francis inadvertently demonstrated his own fallibility during an address in St Peters Square when he mistakenly said the Italian word for f**k.
In the 12 months since he was elected, the Argentinean Pope, who worked with the poor in the slums of Buenos Aires being before made pontiff, has shown a healthy sense of humour and an unerring ability to connect with ordinary people.
But he accidentally went a little too far in using the language of the street after mispronouncing the word caso, which means example, as cazzo Italian for f--- or, in other contexts, cock.
If each of us were to accumulate wealth not only for ourselves but to put at the service of others, in this f--- [pause], in this case Gods providence would manifest itself in this gesture of solidarity, he told a large crowd, delivering his Angelus address from a window overlooking St Peters Square.

Christiane Amanpour Scolds Wolf Blitzer: 'You Have To Be Really Careful' About Ukraine Facts
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/03/christiane-amanpour-wolf-blitzer-ukraine_n_4892959.html?utm_hp_ref=twChristiane Amanpour and Wolf Blitzer had a tense moment on CNN Monday as the two journalists sparred over how to portray the facts of the political situation in Ukraine.
Blitzer was concluding a segment with Amanpour and the Brookings Institution's Stephen Cohen, who blamed Ukraine violence on a "right-wing nationalist movement."
Blitzer set Amanpour off when he told viewers, "You heard Vitaly Churkin, the Russian ambassador to the U.N. Security Council, saying earlier today that at fault for all of this are what he called fascists and anti-Semites in Ukraine right now ..."
"You know, you've got to be really careful by putting that across as a fact," Amanpour said.

Baltics Want NATO ‘Safeguard’ if Ukraine Situation Worsens
Source: Wall Street Journal
RIGA, LatviaBaltic countries are considering calling for a greater North Atlantic Treaty Organization presence in their countries if the situation gets worse in the Ukraine, Ojars Kalnins, the chairman of the foreign-affairs committee of the Latvian parliament, said Monday.
Mr. Kalnins said that a worsening of the Ukraine crisis such as an outright invasion of areas outside Crimea would present a threat to all of Russias neighbors, including the Baltic stateswhich are members of NATO. Such an expanded conflict should be reason for NATO to bring extra military support to the Baltic region as a safeguard.
Atis Lejins, a member of the Latvian parliaments foreign-affairs committee, said increasing the number of NATO aircraft patrolling Baltic airspace could be one way to beef up NATOs presence.
Currently a small, rotating contingent of fighter aircraft from NATO countries operates from a base in Lithuania. Mr. Lejins, a former U.S. Marine, said one example of a heightened presence was the U.S. Air Force Aviation Detachment (AV Det) program in Poland, which rotates fighter and transport units to bases in Poland.

Putin told German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday that Russian citizens and Russian-speakers in Ukraine faced an "unflagging" threat from ultranationalists, and that the measures Moscow has taken were completely fitting given the "extraordinary situation", the Kremlin said.
In a telephone conversation during which Merkel expressed concern about developments in Ukraine, she and Putin agreed that Russia and Germany would continue consultations in bilateral and multilateral formats to seek the "normalisation" of the situation, a Kremlin statement said.
