my points

1- God bless Bernie, he would be a great President. I love the guy.
2- Everyone should vote for who they want, in the primaries and in the general! I sure will.
3- I'm not going to debate this whole Hillary vs. Bernie vs. Jeb vs. et al thing.
4- I'm not convinced he can get elected. The socialism label is going to be a tough thing to explain and sell.
5- If Bernie wins the general election, everyone has my encouragement to rub this post in my face.
6- May the best male or female Democrat win!

Bruce Jenner threatens legal action over 'illegally obtained' dress photos

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/gossip/la-et-mg-bruce-jenner-dress-photo-new-york-daily-news-20150428-story.html

Bruce Jenner has threatened to sue the New York Daily News after it published a grainy photo of him wearing a dress.

The photo also appeared in a segment on CNN.

The former Olympian, who revealed last Friday that he identifies as a woman, was photographed at his home in Malibu clad in a striped maxi dress while holding a cigarette. The photo appeared on the cover of the April 22 issue of the tabloid, just two days before his highly touted ABC interview with Diane Sawyer.

Jenner, 65, alleged that the images in the newspaper and on CNN, which were distributed by the photo agency X-17, violated his privacy because they were taken from a great distance with a telephoto lens.

ok, I was not a shrink but....

for 20 years, I was a practicing therapist.

In my state, I could not legally "Baker Act" someone (involuntarily commit). I had to call the cops and they had to do it. 100% of the time, when I called the cops, they did it for me. Yes, it was absolutely the last resort and one of my clients hated me for it, until she came to see me again.

Everyone worries about being locked up. Trust me, I know this. As long as someone could promise me that they would not hurt themselves and would cooperate with outpatient treatment, I would not call the cops to Baker Act. 99% of the time, people said yes. No one ever lied to me (or was mistaken), so I'm very lucky.

Call someone. If you are "too far gone", please please please, just trust me, go to the ER. You WILL be glad you did.

Peace.

If you are feeling suicidal.....

please please please, call SOMEONE.

ETA: Call a friend. Call a family member. Call your therapist. Call your priest or pastor etc. Don't wait until the pain is unbearable, because, at that point, you might wish to leave this earthly plane. If the pain is unbearable....please read the next sentence.

Better yet, go to your nearest hospital emergency room and talk to a nurse/doctor.

You *might* get "locked up", if the doctor on duty feels you are a very possible suicide risk. This is obviously the last resort, and doctors, in general, do not like to do it. However, you will be ALIVE and will begin to feel better. Better "locked up" than dead, yes ? I only bring up the "locked up" option because, yes, sometimes that does happen. It's best to avoid that scenario by talking to someone NOW, not tomorrow, not next week, but NOW.

There is a good chance you will NOT be locked up. You will be referred to a psychiatrist and counselor/psychologist to get counseling and maybe take meds. If you refuse meds, ok. I think ethical psychiatrists will not twist your arm to take meds but yes, they will monitor you very closely.

BS I saw on a tabloid in the checkout lane....

I forget which one it was.

Hillary has had two strokes already. It's out there. Somehow I think that would be pretty hard to cover up. BS BS BS.

It's simply amazing how many people know better than black people...

Take a gander at the OP by 1StrongBlackMan. I take his word for it. I'm a pretty clueless white guy, so I turn to the experts: THE BLACK COMMUNITY.

This shit is amazing and discouraging. Here, of all places.

Blame game: Climate change causing extreme weather

(yes original headline)

http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2015/04/27/global-warming-climate-change-extreme-weather/26461685/

Man-made global warming is responsible for about 75% of all hot-temperature extremes worldwide in the past 100 years, according to a study published Monday in the British journal Nature Climate Change.

It is also responsible for about 18% of heavy rainfall, the study said.

Even worse, climate change will cause higher percentages of extreme weather in future decades. For example, by the middle of this century, if temperatures continue to increase, about 95% of all heat waves — and about 40% of precipitation extremes — will be due to human influence.

Man-made climate change is caused by the burning of fossil fuels such as gas, coal and oil, which release greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, warming the globe to levels that cannot be explained by natural variability.

Late-Life Transition Like Bruce Jenner's Full of Challenges, Rewards, Experts Say

http://consumer.healthday.com/mental-health-information-25/psychology-and-mental-health-news-566/bruce-jenner-s-late-life-transition-not-an-easy-one-experts-say-698657.html

FRIDAY, April 24, 2015 (HealthDay News) -- Patricia Harrington is many things: a woman in her 60s, a successful physicist and radiation oncology programmer, and currently the intake coordinator for the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund.

The New York City native is also someone with firsthand knowledge of what it means to undergo the complex journey from male to female, something former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner is expected to speak about in a "20/20" interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer on Friday evening.

"I was very cautious," Harrington said. "It's not a day and night kind of thing. When I was very young I was severely bullied, so after that I kind of closed down and spent decades denying who I was.

"When that finally became unbearable, I began to explore the options and test the water in slow motion," she added. "I began at 40, and very slowly tried to undo years of repression. I experimented with cross-dressing. I was lucky enough to connect with people and get support, and I built up my self-confidence, and eventually came out at work."
