Germany's surging far-right party is trying to attract an unlikely group of voters: Jews

COLOGNE, Germany Judging from some of the headlines the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has prompted, one wouldnt assume that its also seeking to be an alternative for Germanys Jewish voters.
For instance, party leader Alexander Gauland stated quite recently that Hitler and the Nazis are just a speck of birds--- in over 1,000 years of successful German history. Last year, leading AfD figure Björn Höcke called Berlins Holocaust Memorial a memorial of disgrace and urged Germans to stop feeling guilty for Nazi crimes. Then theres AfD politician Martin Hohmann, who just celebrated his return to Parliament after more than a decades absence following his expulsion from the mainstream conservative Christian Democratic Union party over anti-Semitic remarks.
Yet, on Oct. 7, the AfD is expected to launch its first Jewish association, in a move that has triggered a fierce backlash among other Jewish organizations. The announcement comes as the AfDs popularity across the country is growing, with polls showing it ahead of the center-left Social Democrats as the countrys second-most-popular party.
The controversial launch of the AfDs Jewish association also comes after months of anti-Semitic incidents that have rattled German Jewish communities. Even though top AfD officials have publicly condemned the incidents, Jewish organizations have accused the far-right party of playing into the hands of anti-Semites.

Trump: "False Acquisitions"
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1044415685928120321He can't spell FALSE ACCUSATIONS ?
eta: I should have taken a screenshot, but he said "false acquisitions" regarding Cavanaugh instead of false accusations. It looks like he or his staff deleted it already.
Collins: Second Kavanaugh accuser should speak with Senate panel under oath
Source: The Hill
GOP Sen. Susan Collins (Maine), a critical swing vote in the Supreme Court fight, said on Monday that she believed a woman accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct should speak with Senate staff under oath.
I believe that the committee investigators should reach out to Deborah Ramirez to question her under oath about what she is alleging happened, Collins told reporters, when asked what she made of the latest allegation against Kavanaugh.
Asked if she believed Ramirez should appear at a Judiciary Committee hearing scheduled for Thursday, Collins added that she didnt.
No because there hasnt even been an interview of her yet and I think that needs to take place first, Collins said.

She will still vote YES, this is just cover for her.
John Brennan, ex-CIA director: "Any attempt by the White House to subvert and manipulate law....."
Any attempt by the White House to subvert or manipulate law enforcement should be resisted. Rather than resigning, officials should stand their ground & wait to be fired. Resisting abuse of presidential authority is not a policy difference; its about adhering to the rule of law.

Barbara Boxer, ex-Senator D-CA: "We have seen this movie before with McConnell..."
We have seen this movie before with McConnell in the Senator Packwood case where Packwood harassed multiple women. Mitch McConnell defended him until it became too painful when the 21st woman came out he folded. Watch this space as they say.

Internal poll shows Abrams leading Georgia governor's race by 6 points
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/408115-internal-poll-shows-abrams-leading-in-georgia-governors-race-by-6-pointDemocrat Stacey Abrams is leading Republican opponent Brian Kemp in Georgia's hotly contested gubernatorial race, according to an internal poll commissioned by her campaign.
The poll, conducted by the Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group, shows Abrams leading the Georgia secretary of state by 48 percent to 42 percent. Seven percent of respondents said they were undecided.
The survey comes weeks after one from Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionChannel 2 Action News that showed Abrams and Kemp virtually deadlocked at 45 percent each.
Abrams, a former minority leader in the Georgia House of Representatives, campaigned as an unabashed progressive during her primary earlier this year against Stacey Evans, a more middle-of-the-road Democrat.
If Rosenstein Is Fired, This Is Who Will Be in Charge of Robert Mueller (Noel Francisco)
https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/if-rosenstein-is-fired-this-is-who-will-be-in-charge-of-robert-mueller/Solicitor General Noel Francisco is next in line if President Donald Trump decides to fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Eyebrows were raised on Friday when the New York Times published a controversial story wherein Rosenstein apparently suggested wearing a wire into the White House and discussed invoking the 25th Amendment against Trump.
While Rosenstein has issued denials and a Department of Justice spokesperson called the wire remark sarcastic, many nonetheless see the Times story as a pretext for the president to fire Rosenstein. Rosenstein has been a target of both congressional Republicans and the president since he appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel in May 2017.
In light of all of this, the question of his firing could be more of a when than an if. The same could be said of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Heres are five things to know about Francisco in the event that Trump does decide to fire Rosenstein.

Graham: Ford's testimony won't change my vote
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/23/kavanaugh-ford-lindsey-graham-837391Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday the testimony of Brett Kavanaughs accuser wont change his mind, no matter what she says.
You cant bring it in a criminal court, you would never sue civilly, you couldnt even get a warrant, Graham said on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace. What am I supposed to do? Go ahead and ruin this guys life based on an accusation? I dont know when it happened, I dont know where it happened, and everybody named in regard to being there said it didnt happen.
Kavanaughs accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, has said Kavanaugh assaulted her at a party when they were both in high school. Therapists notes from 2012 reference an attempted assault by students from an elitist boys school who went on to become highly respected and high-ranking members of society in Washington. The notes did not name Kavanaugh (a graduate of Georgetown Prep), and other students have said they dont remember the party Ford described.
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Saturday tentatively agreed to a hearing with Ford this week after exchanges with her lawyer, but Graham said it wont change his vote absent additional information.
Not surprised at all about Graham. ALL the other Republicans are just like him. Murkowski might be salvageable only because of her need to maintain Native Alaskan support.
