Sex abuse victim to file lawsuit against Josh Duggar: report

Source: Raw Story

One of Josh Duggar’s molestation victims is planning to file a lawsuit against the reality show star and former anti-LGBT activist.

The suit will be filed by a victim who is not a family member, reported InTouch Weekly – which first broke the news about the molestation case.

The new report is based on anonymous sources.

Two of the 27-year-old Duggar’s sisters appeared last month on Fox News and admitted their brother had molested them more than a decade ago at their family’s home.

He molested two other sisters as they slept, according to investigators, along with a babysitter who was staying at the Duggar home.

The Rise Of Anti-Union Rhetoric In The 2016 Race

Source: Think Progress

This week, the Supreme Court agreed to take a case that could spell doom for public sector unions, with the potential to make the entire country so-called “right-to-work” territory.

If that effort fails, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has vowed to make every state a “right-to-work” state if elected president. Out of all the Republican candidates running for president, a growing roster that now tops a dozen, Walker has focused the most on his record fighting unions — a record he says prepares him to confront enemy combatants like ISIS if elected president.

But while Walker may be the loudest and proudest union buster in the 2016 race, his fellow candidates are also striving to prove their anti-labor bona fides.

Carly Fiorina has blamed unions for pay disparities between men and women, though that disparity is much smaller among unionized workers.

Virginia Girl Scouts to be part of first-ever White House campout

Source: WSLS 10

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline will be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity by First Lady Michelle Obama, who will hold the first-ever campout at the White House this Tuesday, June 30.

Officials say the campout is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Interior and will celebrate the National Park Service centennial as well as Great Outdoors Month. It will take place in one of the most historic backyards and national parks in the nation – the White House South Lawn.

As honorary national president of Girl Scouts of the USA, the First Lady will welcome 50 fourth-grade Girl Scouts to participate in activities to earn the new Girls’ Choice Outdoor badges. The Girl Scouts will engage in both new and traditional outdoor activities, including rock wall climbing, putting up tents, knot tying, and orienteering.

Later that evening, the participants will be joined by NASA astronaut Cady Coleman, who will join a stargazing activity led by NASA staff and scientists on the South Lawn before the girls settle in for the night.

With Seconds To Spare, 70-Year-Old Woman Finishes 100-Mile Endurance Race

Source: NPR

The Western States Endurance Run is the world's oldest 100-mile race — and among its toughest. Runners begin the race in Squaw Valley, Calif., climb more than 18,000 feet and descend nearly 23,000 feet before they reach the finish line in Auburn, Calif.

Here's what that looks like:

This year's male winner was Rob Krar, 38, of Flagstaff, Ariz., who completed the course in 14:48:59. That's an incredible time. But the loudest cheers at the finish line on Sunday were reserved for 70-year-old Gunhild Swanson of Spokane Valley, Wash.

Here's how Runner's World describes what happened:

Misty Copeland makes history as first black principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre

Source: Mashable

Once again, Misty Copeland is making history.

The African-American ballerina has been promoted to the rank of principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre. She is the first black female principal dancer in the company's 75-year history.

Copeland joined ABT's corps de ballet in 2001, later becoming a soloist at the company in 2007. In 2014, she told the New Yorker that her next goal was "to become the first African-American principal dancer with ABT." One year later, here we are.

It's been a year of firsts for the famous dancer, who also became the first black ballerina at ABT to star as the Swan Queen in Swan Lake. At the Kennedy Center in D.C., she and co-star Brooklyn Mack became the first African-Americans to star in Swan Lake together at the historic performance institution.

Ya gotta hand it to Ben & Jerry's (I Dough, I Dough)!

June 26th, 2015

We Say ‘I Dough, I Dough’ at Ben & Jerry’s!

Across the country and around the globe, the movement for marriage equality is on an unstoppable roll, generating history-making victories, game-changing wins and growing waves of public support for legalizing same-sex marriage everywhere.

With this ruling, the SCOTUS recognizes the bond of love and commitment between two people, and protects the fundamental rights and freedoms that come with it.

To celebrate the occasion, and the countless citizens who’ve worked so hard to make it happen, we’re honorarily renaming our Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream I Dough, I Dough for the summer, at participating Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops nationwide.

Activists to send drone with abortion medication to women in Poland

Source: Mashable

Women seeking an abortion in a country where the practice is illegal routinely find ways to circumvent the law.

In Poland, that will soon include receiving abortion medication via a drone.

On Saturday, four women's rights groups will launch a drone carrying abortion medication from the German-Polish border town of Frankfurt an der Oder. The 11-pound drone will fly to Slubice, Poland. The two towns are about two-thirds of a mile apart, and are separated by the Oder River.

The event appears to be a symbolic gesture to draw attention to abortion laws in Poland. Women can only have an abortion in the country in cases of rape or incest, when woman's life is in danger, or if there is "potential damage" to the fetus, according to Women on Waves, an abortion rights group involved in the drone campaign.

Diane Rehm Presses Sanders On Whether He’s US-Israel Dual Citizen

Source: TPM

An interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) stopped in its tracks on Wednesday when NPR's Diane Rehm repeatedly pressed the Democratic presidential candidate whether he was a citizen of Israel.

"Senator, you have dual citizenship with Israel," Rehm said during the interview on her nationally broadcast show based on station WAMU.

"Well, no I do not have dual citizenship with Israel," Sanders, who is Jewish, interjected. "I'm an American. I don't know where that question came from. I am an American citizen, and I have visited Israel on a couple of occasions. I'm an American citizen, period."

Rehm cited "a list we have gotten" at NPR that said Sanders was "on that list."
