We Need Term Limits For Judges

We need something like a ten year term limit for Federal Judges and Supreme Court Justices. They are too unaccountable with lifetime appointments.

Limited Executive Versus Unlimited Executive

Some of the Justices at the Supreme Court seem to be concerned that a limitation on the President's power is somehow harmful to the nation and our form of government. My view is that a limited executive is much better than an unlimited one. This court seems too concerned that limiting a President's power is some sort of danger to our country and form of government.

The danger of having an autocrat in the White House is much greater than a Presidency with clearly limited powers. The Founders understood this, having overthrown a dictatorial monarch when the nation was founded. A President should not be above the law. No one should be.

It is surprising to me that many so called conservatives are the ones calling for complete Presidential immunity. Traditional conservatives want limited government, not an unlimited executive. So what if a President can be held accountable if they commit a crime? That is much better than an unlimited President that is free to commit crimes. An unlimited autocrat is much more of a danger to our democracy than a limited executive. That is what the court should focus on.

What Hamas did on October 7, 2023 was heinous, evil, and unforgivable. Unfortunately, the response by Netanyahu and the IDF is not justified. They have killed thousands and thousands of innocent people, women and children. One heinous act does not justify another heinous act. Two wrongs do not make a right. There have been terrible actions on both sides. Israel has the right to defend itself, but not to kill innocent civilians en masse. The Israelis that support this killing have lost the moral high ground. They are not justified. The IDF needed to find a way to target the Hamas perpetrators without the mass killing of thousands of innocent civilians. There are many Israelis and Jews that do not support this slaughter. Mass murder is never justified, on either side. So I condemn the October 7th killings, but also the mass killings of innocent Gazan civilians. Cease fire now, and the return of all hostages.

Joe Biden Is A Great President

I hope that Joe lives forever. He has managed to accomplish so much during his administration even while the Republicans have a majority in the House. Joe has steadily racked up a list of bipartisan legislative accomplishments. We really need four more years of this. We could also do even more if we could regain the House and maintain control of the Senate. I think that history will look kindly on Joe Biden. He will go down in history as one of our best presidents.

The Stupidity Of MAGA Americans

Part of what is distressing about Donald Trump is not just that he is a stupid and ignorant sociopath. It is that there are millions of Americans that are stupid enough, gullible enough, and ignorant enough to support a demagogue like Trump.

There is a substantial portion of the American population that does not understand or care about democracy and justice in this country. There is just a large number of people who are basically ignorant of what it means to be a good American citizen. I am not entirely sure how many MAGA there are. Maybe a substantial hard core of 10 or 20 %? Maybe more?

MAGA and Trump are a political disease. If Trump is convicted, if Trump is jailed, if Trump loses the election to Joe Biden, the head will be cut off of the snake. But there is a danger that other MAGA leaders would step in and take Trump's place. People like Kari Lake in Arizona, for example.

While I think that Trump's conviction or his defeat in the Presidential election would be a great step forward, it would not completely solve the problem. Trump is like a cancerous tumor that must be removed from the body of American politics. But once the tumor is removed, we must examine what remains to ensure that the cancer has not spread elsewhere in our country. We must clear MAGA fascism entirely out of our system. The conviction and defeat of Trump would be a great step forward for that though.

Trump Threatening Violence

I am tired of this idiot Trump and his followers threatening violence. If he wants violence, let him deal with our Army, our Police, and other Americans who are loyal to the Country and the Constitution, not his crazy MAGA cult of fascists. If he wants a Civil War, he is going to lose it.
