Excerpts:
The Food and Drug Administration over the weekend issued a warning on nine alcohol-based hand sanitizers manufactured by Eskbiochem SA de CV in Mexico that it says contain wood methanol, a toxic substance that could ultimately result in death of absorbed through the skin or ingested.

“Consumers who have been exposed to hand sanitizer containing methanol should seek immediate treatment, which is critical for potential reversal of toxic effects of methanol poisoning,” the FDA wrote on June 19.

“Substantial methanol exposure can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or death,” the report indicated. The agency said the risk of possible ingestion centered mostly on young children or adolescents who might use alcohol-based sanitizers as a substitute for grain alcohol.

Here are a list of the hand sanitizers manufactured by Eskbiochem:
All-Clean Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-002-01)
Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-007-01)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-008-04)
The Good Gel Antibacterial Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-010-10)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-005-03)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-009-01)
CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-003-01)
Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-001-01)

Unfortunately, the article does not define what retailers are carrying (or were carrying) these products. Best to check all your sanitizer bottles and to avoid these brands in the future.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — President Donald Trump launched his comeback rally Saturday by defining the upcoming election as a stark choice between national heritage and left-wing radicalism. But his intended show of political force amid a pandemic featured thousands of empty seats and new coronavirus cases on his own campaign staff.

Trump suggests US slow virus testing to avoid bad statistics
By KEVIN FREKING

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — President Donald Trump said Saturday he’s asked his administration to slow down coronavirus testing because robust testing turns up too many cases of COVID-19.

Trump told supporters at his campaign rally that the U.S. has tested 25 million people, far more than any other country. The “bad part,” Trump said, is that widespread testing leads to logging more cases of the virus.

“When you do testing to that extent, you’re going to find more people, you’re going to find more cases,” Trump said. “So I said to my people, ‘Slow the testing down, please.’ They test and they test.”

Juneteenth: Tulsans gather to hear speakers, enjoy music and more in Tulsa's Greenwood District

Excerpts:
Update: Cool weather, evening hours and the pending main event of Juneteenth (a keynote address by Al Sharpton) led to a crowd surge in the Greenwood District. People sat on blankets or lawn chairs as they staked out positions in front of the entertainment stage to hear speakers and performers.

Rep. Regina Goodwin thanked organizers for arranging “an expression of love, because that’s what it is.”

Many speakers urged attendees to exercise their right to vote. Rep. Monroe Nichols said, “If you don’t go vote, you wasted everybody’s time here.” A voter registration booth was on site at the festival. By 6 p.m., the stack of new registration forms numbered about 100, according to a staffer at the table.

Kids played catch with a football, people posed for photos in front of a Black Wall Street mural and music from KBOB (Black on Black Community radio) filled the air as Awesome Jeremy provided art instruction.

Coronavirus: Why US is expecting an 'avalanche' of evictions

Coronavirus: Why US is expecting an 'avalanche' of evictions
By Jessica Lussenhop
BBC News

(I do not suggest you read this if you're having a rough day. It includes a number of very sad stories)

Read it here: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53088352

Excerpts:
As hair salons, churches and restaurants reopen across the US, so are eviction courts. Advocates and experts say that an unprecedented crush of evictions is coming, threatening millions of Americans with homelessness as a possible second wave of the pandemic looms.
+++
The federal CARES Act, which passed in early April, froze evictions for renters living in federally subsidised housing or in property backed by government loans. Surveys estimated that in the month of May, nearly a third of renters failed to pay their landlords on time, and over half had lost jobs due to the crisis.

But as the country begins opening up again, moratoriums are ending and 40% of states no longer offer renters any protection. The CARES Act protections only apply to less than one-third of the country's 108 million renters. Missouri is one of nine states in the US that never issued any type of statewide moratorium or stay on eviction proceedings, leaving it up to cities, counties and even individual courthouses to determine how to move forward. As temporary protections are falling away, like a patchwork quilt slowly fraying, hundreds of evictions are already under way in states like Missouri, Virginia and Texas. That could be sending thousands to homeless shelters or to double up with family, at a time when coronavirus cases are still on the rise in many places.

"No court anywhere should be evicting anybody until at least the pandemic has sufficiently subsided," said Eric Dunn, director of litigation for the National Housing Law Project. "Most people being evicted right now - it's because their incomes have been disrupted during the crisis. Where are they supposed to go? It's not like they have money to move somewhere else."

Included in the article are some heart-wrenching stories from real, hard-working people that are the victims of cold, heartless corporations and individual landlords.

Why aren't corporations and individual landlords going to bat for these tenants with the government rather than booting them out on the street?

Unfettered, unregulated capitalism silences the voice of those that suffer most across the globe..... .....

State Supreme Court denies last-ditch appeal seeking Trump rally follows safety protocols

Source: Tulsa World

The state Supreme Court on Friday denied a request to require a Tulsa judge order BOK Center management follow COVID-19 “mandatory social distancing guidelines” during President Donald Trump’s campaign rally this weekend.

The decision appears to end an attempt by two Greenwood businesses and two individuals to require BOK Center management to enforce COVID-19 social distancing and other measures designed to limit the spread of the deadly virus ahead of Trump’s rally Saturday.

The rally Saturday is expected to fill the 19,000-plus seat arena to capacity, with thousands more perhaps outside the arena.

Tulsa Health Department Executive Director Bruce Dart has said he wants the Trump rally to be postponed since the city is in the midst of a major resurgence in new COVID-19 cases.

This is an outright moral crime against all Tulsa citizens and citizens of adjoining areas, as many officials want to prevent a super-spreader event of COVID-19. Adding insult to injury, the cost for it will come out of taxpayer's pockets - local, state and federal.

There seems to be no bottom to what Republicans will do to hold and expand their power.....

Excerpts:
LAKE WORTH BEACH — Delinquent customers of Lake Worth Beach’s utility company have about one more month to pay their accounts before the city begins power cutoffs. The city commission voted unanimously Thursday to approve ending a moratorium on residential and commercial disconnects that began March 17 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Electric utilities director Ed Liberty said 1,789 customers owing more than $1.1 million combined were eligible to have their power turned off as of June 4. That number increases daily, he said. Customers with accounts in arrears will be encouraged to agree on a payment plan that would allow unpaid fees to be paid over 12 months.

Liberty said not everyone who is behind on payments will be disconnected July 17. The cutoffs essentially will be spread over three weeks. Those whose power is turned off can reconnect if they agree to a payment plan, he said.

That will not be received well in Florida in their summer heat.
