That is some real legalese there. According to Websters, insurrection means: 'an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government'. I feel that they did precisely that. The authority that said 'here is the result of the election and here are the winners' which they themselves admit to trying to shut down the process, i.e.: the government which was following the protocols of said governmental charter. They also defied civil authority in refusing to stand down, refusing to vacate the premises, and literally attacking those who were tasked with the protection of the legislative branch. Just because they were not kicking down the door of the White House does not mean they were not trying to achieve the goal of removing the 'sitting government' of this nation and replacing it with something else... namely an orange despot with delusions for everything. That is what it looked like to me on January 6th. I suppose we will have to wait and see what finally happens on this matter to see which is the correct interpretation.
