(21,407 posts)As I said in a reply to another o.p. on this topic, I have a huge amount of faith in Jamie Raskin. I wouldn't take just anyone's word for certain things, like how big these hearings are going to be, but when it comes out of Jamie Raskin's mouth, I'm going to take it very seriously. Why? Because he knows exactly what he's talking about. He has access to a ton of information that I don't have access to, and he has the expertise in constitutional law to know exactly what laws were broken, who broke them, and how serious those infractions were. And he's not one to overdramatize or blow things out of proportion for frivolous reasons.
Some people, the true fanatics, will never believe certain things, no matter who says what. Those who are utterly convinced that the election was stolen will remain convinced of that, no matter what. But but I think those people are the minority. There are a lot of people who ARE convinceable, and i think the committee is going to throw enough unassailable evidence at them to convince a lot of them.
I am excited about these hearings, especially now that we have an actual date. If I end up getting disappointed, c'est la vie. I can live with disappointment, but I can't survive without hope. That's just how it is for me. I'll say it again: I can live with disappointment, but I can't survive without hope.
I know some feel there is so little reason to hope that they've decided not to allow themselves to do so. I get that, but it's different for me. I have to have hope. I literally can't allow myself to give up hope completely. If I couldn't hold on to at least a little bit of hope, I'd probably be out looking for a bridge to jump off of (figuratively speaking). If someone else feels that not being hopeful is he best strategy for them, that's fine: you do you. I have to do me, and that means not giving up hope. That's just how it is for me.
