7. Yup, and that got on the ballot in 2018

And it got on the ballot because the new Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice voted against her own party back then to allow the ballot measure to remain on the ballot.

Justice Elizabeth Clement was appointed by Republican Governor Rick Snyder, but has acted independently. In 2018 she faced immense pressure to, without any legal basis, keep the ballot proposal off the ballot. Instead of caving to Cons, she followed the law and the voters of Michigan decided against gerrymandered districts. She was unanimously chosen as Chief Justice this week. There are still a few good Republicans out there in the courts.

Getting good ballot proposals in front of the voters is the key. Out of phase redistricting needs to happen in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Florida. Dems in those states need to move heaven and earth to get redistricting in front of the voters, it fixes so much.

Love, love, love, this! onecaliberal Nov 2022 #1
