Along with others, Hillary Clinton really paved the way for today's reality. She ran in 2008 and 2016, having to deal with endless questions about gender.
Yes, I'm sure our lousy media will get around to nonsense stories, but IMHO as far as voters go, the topic is no longer fresh. Allowing Kamala Harris to run more on the issues with less interference and noise.
Imagine instead that Kamala was the very first woman in this position. The press would be in attack mode.
