2. C L R James was/is an historic and influential figure in world history.

Who foresaw the direction our democratic society was moving towards — perhaps towards a totalitarian future. It sure seems that way.

Wish he had live to chart what happens to totalitarian regimes when the reach their end-game.

In Germany Hitler wanted "elbow room" and so attack its neighbors to achieve such. We know the end of that story.

The USSR/Russia, even though it has 11 times zones of territory, has continually attacked neighboring countries for more. IMO it will not end well for what Putin intended by invading Ukraine, a nation one fifth its size.

Imperial Japan certainly didn't do well in its conquest for oil and land in Asia.

Hard to see much future in the Hungarian dictatorship where Orban has no room to expand, or Meloni's Italy, or Le Pen who can't win an election in France.

What happens when the end comes to these totalitarian regimes? Do they resort back to democracies of some sort or descend into dystopian disorder which eventually become collections of fiefdoms with warlords battling for control?
