5. Seeing the President in such a state on his birthday with his family....

brought some memories from my MIL passing back on February.

President Carter’s condition appeared much like my 87-year-old MIL’s shape in the past couple of weeks of her life. She slept lots and her mouth was similarly agape.

I spent a few nights on morphine duty, giving her a dose every two hours around-the-clock. I dont think she ever knew although her eyes would open when I gave her morphine. I’ve never been more04

We got her mail-in ballot and waited as long as we could to ger her to complete it. I tried a few times to get her ballot completed, but she never truly woke up. We ended up taking the blank ballot back to the clerk’s office a couple
days after the epection.

If I were solo in taking care of her, I’m pretty sure she would have possessed compos mentis enough to vote. But, I have a BIL, who is the #2 at my county’s sherrif’s department, and who is a man that I have almost 100% total respect for. He is ethical, almost to a fault. The topic came up a few times on filling out my MIL’s ballot. He was absolutely against our casting votes for her. He is a Democrat. I’ve not felt he snookered us. Politics aside, he’s a good man.

I really hope President Carter’s final days are filled with his mind being completely cognizant of his surroundings and with his family drawing super close.

Now, I‘m praying President Carter can survive until after the election.
