12. Democrats need to stand up to fascism

rather than voting for it. You suggest we earn votes by doing nothing to resist Trump. It doesn't work that way.

The good thing is that a majority of Democrats did stand up to Trump on the CR. The problem is when the leadership ensures the bill passes, the entire party is deemed ineffective.

Then we have the collaboration by some members of the Democratic rank and file who celebrate Trump's attack on the First Amendment and increasing authoritarianism through deportation of a green card holder and its assault on universities. They ally themselves with authoritarianism because they don't like the content of the speech that the targets engage in, ignoring the fact that the First Amendment exists to protect not just speech we agree with but speech we find reprehensible. This is all the worse because it's a prong in Trump's efforts to abolish freedom of thought and consolidate authoritarian rule.
