48. There is truth in this but there are many more subtle reasons too

I have much older neighbors who aren't traditional racists, they have no problem with minorities until they start seeing more of them living in their neighborhood than they are comfortable with. I would say 90% of the time these people are Trump voters because they think somehow he will turn back the clock 40 years. The ironic thing is that in my neighborhood the minorities that are moving in are upper middle income and take better care of their houses than their white neighbors and are more friendly.

Then you also have those that just don't always put two and two together. They aren't bad people, they aren't racist, they don't love facists but they just don't think things through all the time. I know someone in his 30's with young kds, he's smart but never applied himself in school however he has a decent paying job and so does his wife. He knows Trump is an idiot but he still votes for him because Trump is vocal about what he wants to do and Biden wasn't (or rather the media never covered it the same way). He thinks his kids will be fine because he was fine even though he really just lucked out in life with most things and he thinks Trump will continue to make his life ok. He doesn't want to apply himself past his basic comfort level to become a multi-millionaire he just wants to work and have fun in life. His wife on the other hand works very hard and has had to fight for where she is and she hates Trump because she has had to think about the future her whole life.
