In reply to the discussion: Just got back from a local No Kings protest [View all]calimary
(87,540 posts)It looked like that much, or more. Where we were was in a series of semi-narrow curbed grass sections within a parking lot area, and assorted access roads weaving in and out.
Where I stood with our Indivisible Clackamas group was in one of those long narrow parking-lot border areas. LOTS of people were there! Everywhere you looked, in that area, you saw lines of peaceful protesters. The overall mood was light-hearted, friendly, and happy to be there! Many of us recognized and acknowledged fellow protesters even while not knowing them by name yet. You start seeing familiar faces if you keep going to some of these things.
One guy brought his trumpet with him, and gave us lots of bits like youd hear, either at patriotic fests or in classic Warner Brothers cartoons! Helped keep the mood fun and entertaining. The weather cooperated, too! LOTS of cars were weaving in and out and waving, or giving us a thumbs-up. Ive been to a bunch of these by now, and theres always a small number of naysayers, but Ive never seen more than five at any of these events. More often, its three oppositionals.
AND the big FUCK TRUMP car was there, too! Parked elsewhere in the parking area. Weve seen it before at our sign-wavings and it seems to be a regular feature by now. It never fails to add big smiles and a bit of spice to the overall recipe!
