(20,048 posts)Since the death of my husband, the amount of Social Security for the two of us will be reduced to less than $2,300 a month from just under $3,000 now that my husband has been deceased since May 18th. At 73, I have no plans to go back into the work force. It will take a few more months until I have an idea of the overall monthly income I will be receiving from the US Military, the VA, two places where my husband worked at, etc., in addition to SS.
I will generate additional income from my sewing business doing Alterations and Custom sewing for clients all over the country. At least I know that before my husband died, he did leave me with a pot to piss in through a number of investments, unlike my father leaving my mother without one when he died in August of 2000.
Mike Collins is out of his mind if he thinks Seniors are going to go back to work. Even Walmart are not hiring scores of Seniors as greeters these days.
