(370 posts)I have had an infusion for surgery. The result is a big bruise. I always told them what would happen, but the nurses (who surely thought they knew and could do it better) then would try my wrist, move up my forearm and finally realize, it only works in my inner elbow. Before procedures, no matter how many times, I told the RN, or whoever inserts the needle, they always had to try it in my hand the first time, before they believe me. I always get a bruise and severe swelling in my hand. They watch my vein get bigger and bigger, and say, oh, my god, the vein blew.
(I guess he is so stupid or out of it, he doesn't know that they can use his arm.)The last two times I have had small surgical procedures, the nurse, asked the doctor, who said, sure do what she says. I always ask them to use the same vein they would use for a blood lab work, the inner elbow. A little uncomfortable, and awkward for the doctor, ( arm isn't in the right place) but very doable. I just wonder if they are cleaning up his blood, giving him a detox infusion, vitamins, etc. There are all sorts of infusions he could be getting that could make him able to appear? to be somewhat healthy.
