In reply to the discussion: James Clyburn endorses sex pest Andrew Cuomo [View all]Celerity
(51,561 posts)42. The NYC ones 'pragmatic'd' their way to that corrupt Trump-hugging Eric Adams, now they will do the same with the
serial sexual harasser, real estate developer big-upper, conservative-judge-stacking, anti NY State Dem Senate control (in the 2010s, when Cuomo got a small group of conservadems to flip control of the NY State Senate to the Rethugs to block NYC liberals) Cuomo.
Colour me very unimpressed at times with some of my fellow black Americans so-called 'pragmatism'. Especially the fundie christian homophobic ones, many of them down South, but far far from limited to that area. Same for the misogynistic ones.
Were the 3 out of 10 black men under 45yo (and 25 per cent overall, all age groups for black men) who voted Trump in 2024 being 'pragmatic'?

Economy and jobs made men under age 45 more open to Trump
Voters overall cited the economy and jobs as the most important issue the country faced. That was true for Black and Hispanic voters as well.
About 3 in 10 Black men under age 45 went for Trump, roughly double the share he got in 2020. Young Latinos, particularly young Latino men, also were more open to Trump than in 2020. Roughly half of young Latino men voted for Harris, compared with about 6 in 10 who went for Biden.

If Democrats could stop acting like they want to lose every election, that would be great

In 2020? Sanders would have lost by 10 points, though we'd be through with trump.

Sadly, I think "toughness" -- even if just optics -- is important dealing with trump. Think Bass did fine, though.
