(7,691 posts)40. I think it is related to the overall decrease in Medicaid funding.
A big portion of the reimbursements to private ambulance services comes from Medicaid. There will also be an impact to Medical Transport Services programs that pick people up for appointments and bring them home. What will absolutely begin to happen in a big way is for people to be refused coverage based on "review" of their files and they will just start terminating coverage and make people "qualify" all over again. Given the staffing cuts the "re-qualifying" will drag on and on. Meanwhile the doctors and hospitals will be restricted in treating patients who have no clear means to pay. The mega health corporations who own the hospitals and clinics will not be handing out charity anytime soon. Especially on a large scale.
