This is why I donate $$ to my local food banks.
I will occasionally support "food drives" that want us to put bags of food out. But I figure if I give $$$ directly to the food bank, then they can buy the items they need. Food drives are great for engaging the community but I suspect they don't deliver an optimal set of the most-needed food items.
(there have been posts that mention what are most-needed items that aren't often given in food drives. I remember a top item is shelf-stable milk. So when I know a food drive is coming up, I try to get some shelf-stable milk to include in my bag. I can't really remember the others except that not all recipients have easy access to cook things.)

Good news is our local chief of police has gone on record saying his organization is not chartered to support ICE.
