With gangs & Hamas swarming aid trucks & shooting people did they think they were just going to pull up and have a peaceful docking?

All sit on the beach and sing Kumbaya by the fire while holding hands?

Swarmed and/or mugged at best, kidnapped or killed at worse.

Hamas is not the only bad actor there, we got:

Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ)
Popular Resistance Committees (PRC)
Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade
Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP)
Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP)
Various ISIS-affiliated groups
etc

Not that they really had much aid anyway, the 400 activists took up most of the space on those small boats. Which would have pissed off the locals even more IMO.
