(97,548 posts)It's the Food Incs who are doing this. Not so much the grocers, at least the small franchised ones like in my tiny nearby town, (otherwise I have to go 100 miles one-way to shop). Yes they already gouge us but the suppliers are doing what the OP is complaining about. The grocers don't package all that stuff, but they either put it on their shelves for us or it's not available. So a boycott of the greatest offenders is a good start but you also have to realize that if you are going to buy food at the grocery store, there are only a few companies who actually produce all those items so you have to make a choice about what you are willing to buy, use and how you are going to send a message to those major Monsanto and Simplot types. That's the reality. They know they can get away with this, just like the oil companies and the price of gas.
