I also liked the OP - I think you're both right, to an extent. There are freedoms still, rights and protections that keep us from truly becoming a fascist state, though that time may be approaching. I am proud of the President, proud of the American people for electing him and look forward to what else he may accomplish if given the opportunity.

That said, political forums are monitored frequently by government agencies, as are the most popular blogs and sources of news. At this present time, it would be absurdly difficult if not impossible to maintain any sort of control over freedom of speech here on the net (where I expect we find the "real truth" more often than we would from the MSM). There have, however, been a number of attempts at censorship and government influence - mostly from the right wing. No, I do not think we are yet a fascist Country, I do believe though, that we are in danger of becoming one. The early warning signs are indeed there.
