It is an Italian-American slur based on Sicilian dialect. He can't even be bothered to spell it correctly because he's so far from any Italian language roots that he has managed to gin up some goofy French spelling. The word he's looking for, in Sicilian dialect, is "mulignana," which would be spelled mulignan' if one wanted to spell it phonetically the way these doo-ta-doos pronounce it.

The Italian term for eggplant is melanzana, and nobody uses it that way except these cretini and two-bit wanna-be mafiosi who don't even speak Italian.
