In reply to the discussion: Kamala Harris leaves door open for 2028 presidential run [View all]thought crime
(937 posts)Democrats should not be afraid of their own values and ideas. In 2024 Kamala ran as a hail-Mary pass in an election upset by Biden's decision to run again, leading to growing concern about his age and health, and a truly disastrous debate. But Kamala was an excellent candidate; very knowledgable, likable, and energetic. I've never seen anyone work so hard. She showed she has no particular weaknesses and she comes off as a "Happy Warrior" in the finest tradition of the Democratic Party (i.e FDR). She killed in the debate with Trump. No one else has done that. Kamala also hits a sweet-spot for holding together various parts of the Democratic coalition. I'm eager to see Kamala 2.0 hit the trail.
In 2028 Trump may not be running (hate the way that sounds). In any case, America is going to have a pretty big case of Fascism-fatigue by 2028 and anybody the republicans nominate will likely be labelled and understood to be fascist. It might be an election that any Democrat will win, so whatever happens, let's not lock it up with fear and pessimism just yet.
BTW I'd also support AOC or Jasmine Crockett in a heartbeat, and I think two out of those three could make a great ticket. Like I said; double-down.
