Covering up that Earth is flat somehow gives this conpsiracy control over the population.

They don't know either. They also marvel why somebody would do that.

Flat-Eartherism looks like a religion to me: They love to talk about their favorite theoretical Flat-Earth-models. Anything goes, as long as it's flat. But once you start asking questions about the details and practical observation, they get all uptight.

Similar to religion, it's not about proving that Earth is flat.
It's about keeping the POSSIBILITY of Flat Earth alive.
