6. I had to do that in the 1980's, and some of my shoes were already made of paper.

Volume Shoe Source, anyone? My shoes would turn mushy in the rain, and my toes would poke out the end, so I would color my white socks with black marker, so nobody would notice.
Also, wore plastic bread bags inside my moonboots, to try and keep my feet dry.
Poverty taught me a lot, but mostly that it sucks.
