3. It appears to be some sort of "style" of the time

An attempt to look "casual?" I'm not sure. But the unshaven look has been around for awhile, I remember some Alaskan that Sarah Palin was endorsing went for that "look." And it's not that they're growing a beard or just neglected to shave for a couple of days (except for Ari Melber), but some inexplicable current style choice. I've seen guys on TV shows or TV movies that look that way and I know what you mean. Do they ever completely shave? They certainly look like they need to. I've often thought that when these shows are movies are shown years down the road, people will think it looks mighty strange, like when we see odd hair choices from the '80s...
