(360 posts)31. Trackdown, my daddy's really mean roping / cutting horse,
Trackdown, my daddy's chestnut American Quarter Horse, lived to be 43. He died in good health and maintained his attitude until the end.
Trackdown was the ultimate professional and was a champion athlete. He adored my daddy and would perform feats of brilliance in cutting contests, but only with my dad in the saddle.
He never hurt any of us, but we always went armed with a bucket of feed when we ventured into the pasture. My dad just called him and he came galloping.
I just know that he and my daddy are out there together, checking fence lines on Florida's Okeechobee County prairies while keeping an eye out for those recalcitrant steers.
Floyd R. Turbo, thank you for bringing this wonderful memory to my mind!

I should have referred to that snake as "it" rather than "him" in my earlier post.
